Using mobile internet abroad

Hi all,

Sorry if this is basic, but I知 not very tech savvy.

I知 not sure of the best way to be able to get mobile data when we go to Florida. I知 with EE so should I get a package from them? Is that the same as an eSim that I致e seen mentioned on here?

Thanks!

You don't need an esim if you're with EE. Just call, text or go into 'myEE' to add roam further to your account for 30 days for approx 」10. You can then use your allowance in the US with no further charges.

Great, thanks so much for your help. I was struggling to find the right info on my EE.

Out of interest, what exactly is an eSim?

It痴 an app which is used instead of a physical SIM card.

An iPhone (and some others) can have an actual sim and an eSIM running at the same time enabling you to use your own and a local number simultaneously.

electronicSIM. As it suggests, does the same as a normal sim, but no need for a physical card. Usually setup by simply scanning a qr code. Easy to switch between them or turn it off.

I run 2 normally.

Every time we come here I thank goodness my Wife has the EE Max Plan. We absolutely hammer her allowance and never pay a penny. Plus it痴 on a SIM only contract at circa 」24 a Month.

Sadly no longer available.

I am with EE and just added the roam further for 」10ish. Since I致e returned I have removed it, as it stays on your monthly bill. One thing I did have a problem with was actually calls and texts when I got there. After a messenger chat with EE they tried something from their end which didn稚 seem to work, but then they suggested selecting a different network. It had automatically selected AT&T, I changed it to T Mobile and then it worked. The same with my partners phone too

A few posts regarding this. AT/T are turning off their legacy 2G network, going LTE / 5G only which is causing some issues roaming. Choose t mob to solve.

From another Essex 堵irl (ahem) we池e discussing the same thing. We池e with Tesco and we池e not going to change providers so we have been watching lots of vlogs and found one where they buy a sim for $55 in Walmart and it gives unlimited everything (not international calls) for 30 days. We池e going to try this because we will be there for three weeks so there will be a lot of times when we won稚 have wifi. But if you are with EE already, then I think it痴 going to be good for you. I am also wondering if I could get something before I leave here so I might check them out to see if they do a sim that will work over there.

Have you got a phone which is Esim compatible?
