To be fair he has had a Starwood Amex card for years and years or something like that so some of this trip has been funded by points lol!
I don’t think they would be staying there without doing that lol!
I’m not entirely certain if this island is solely The Ritz Carlton and if so I’m not 100% certain that I’d want to just be in this bubble really! I’m a bit too fidgety to stay put in one place and not leave it.
I’ll ask him.

We went to the Maldives for our honeymoon in 2014 & it was Meeru we picked - was as close to paradise as I've ever experienced. It was just pure bliss - I'm not sure if you can get a seaplane transfer from Male for there but we had a speedboat transfer to the island (which was really quite good) and the return was more like a wee ferry boat as opposed to speed boat.

I miss it so much, 1 of the best experiences of my life & I'm green with envy of anyone who is going coz I'm not

We have a similar weight loss challenge but I have the bonus of 75 days!

Good luck 😃

Reading this thread reminded me of our Maldives holidays. We went to Thudufushi in 1995 and Kuramathi in 1997. Thudufushi was amazing, the jet descending for the first sight of the reefs, the seaplane journey. It was so isolated we saw no one new for a week until the weekly seaplane took some guests away and brought new ones. We took books! No internet, no TV, no newspapers…. We had two weeks there and every day followed the same routine. The underwater scenery was astounding but we sat at the end of the jetty at night, and saw the Milky Way like we’ve never seen it before or since.
Kuramathi was bigger, we had a water bungalow which was great.
We’ve never been back because we found the Red Sea closer to home, to relax and snorkel, but now I’m wondering….

We went in 2010 as part of our honeymoon. We went to Coco Bodu Hithi which was amazing; we had a week in what was supposed to be a deluxe over water villa, we got upgraded to a residence which was just amazing. We then got stuck there for an extra 5 days due to the ash cloud which was such a shame!

I highly recommend The Residence. We went in April/May for our honeymoon. There’s two islands, Dhigurah and Falhumaafushi, connected by a bridge. Each villa comes with bicycles so you can ride across between the two. Dhigurah is the newer island.

All food and drink venues are included in all inclusive no matter which island you stay on and the food is AMAZING. So are the cocktails. The best all inclusive offering we’ve ever had and we’ve done many 5* around the world. Plenty of a la carte options as well as buffets. We had premium all inclusive which got us some excursions and extra drinks included.

There’s a house reef on both islands, we personally preferred the Dhigurah house reef which was good as that was our island! We stayed in a Lagoon Pool villa. The house reef was a 3 min cycle from our villa and in the morning it was teeming with turtles. There’s also lots of turtles under the bridge around dusk. You also couldn’t go in the water without seeing black tip sharks (we also saw a white tip and and nurse shark). Lots of rays around the islands too, especially eagle rays, but notably a porcupine ray!

I promise to do a proper trip report this week with photos... I’ll post a link here when I do.
