Clearwater is on the gulf coast, so the water is much warmer than coco beach. I've been to clearwater and that was amazing, but I've heard coco beach is less built up and a bit more quiet. I'm sure you'll have a great day regardless! But if you do end up going to clear water, the sheraton sand key is an amazing place to stay! Backwater's and Crabby Bill's are great places to eat too!

On average, the gulf coast is much warmer than the Atlantic Florida coast all year round. These 2 links are a small example of that:
nodc.noaa.gov/dsdt/cwtg/egof.html nodc.noaa.gov/dsdt/cwtg/satl.html Temperatures vary oup and down each coast, but on the whole, the gulf is noticeably warmer.

Sorry, but that's just not true, certainly as far as Florida is concerned. Your cited stats are comparing West Coast Florida with Virginia, and North and South Carolina. The few cities in Florida are about the same.

Been to both.
Our favourite is Clearwater. We enjoy the calm warm sea( which always feels warm), powder white sand. Little toot boat trip to watch Dolphins. We like to eat at clear sky cafe and Gondalier. Plenty of bars to pop in and out of. There's lots of places to walk to. The pier at sunset has a great little parade of stalls to wander by. Fire eaters on the beach. Weekends they have movies for everyone next to the pier. Overall lots to see and do. We have stayed in Sandpearl, Hilton and this time we are off to the new Opal sands. All 3 are on the beach and either right next to the pier or afew mins walk up the beach to it. |
