Yes the rate you get from Lloyds for example on the Avios credit card would be set by MasterCard and is as close as you can ever get (without buying a house) to the market rate. Whereas HiFx set there own rate based on the market rate and as MasterCard will have many more transactions than HiFx they can set a rate closer to the market rate.
The amount is very small under £100 if you were to compare the two but it's still a little saving and you would earn avios

Weekend obviously being a bad time to check, but upon checking this morning right enough they are very similar, HiFx actually edged it (very marginally) but as you say, even with large numbers the difference was very small.

Credit Card with benefits it is.
