Mickey Mouse and Goofy officially switched on the The Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights on the Streets of America at Disney's Hollywood Studios theme park on Friday, this is a breathtaking seasonal display featuring millions of glittering lights perfectly synchronized to holiday music.

Performances of Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights take place nightly from now until January 7th (the spectacle will not be operational Dec. 8th).

Performances take place in the Backlot area of the park where millions of dazzling bulbs adorn the cityscape landscape along with dancing lights and animated displays which are synchronized to high-energy holiday tunes.

The Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights tradition began in 1986 in Arkansas, at the home of businessman Jennings Osborne, who strung 1,000 lights as a Christmas gift to his daughter. After the exhibit grew larger and brighter each year, it was transported to Disney in 1995 where the light exhibit now mesmerizes guests from all over the world each year. The tradition continues after Jennings’ death on July 27, 2011.

We saw these on Thursday (they were on a day early) and they were stunning! We loved it - especially when it started snowing!

Saw them on Friday 11t at switch on and they only danced once at the beginning, left at 7pm as a tech fault meant that they could not dance! Shame as that was our only night we could go, never mind we had seen them before.

We saw the spectacle of dancing lights in 2008 and are looking forward to seeing them again in 2012. It is a wonderful sight and with the snow falling really makes it a special night. We are doing the MVMCP and hpoefully going to get booked for the Wishes Dessert Party in Magic Kingdom too.

This is on my list of must dos for our Oct/Nov 2013 holiday! Just hope that we can wangle the dates to make sure we are there for switch on and ideally a few days after to make sure we get chance to see them.

We've just returned. Went to see these and they were so magical we returned so we could capture them on video. I loved the way the lights danced to the Christmas music and the snow fell - a truly fantastic memory
