£9 seems to be the 'going' rate for renting out points on here, so that's possibly a good way to go - you get to keep all the money yourself that way. Obviously there's a huge trust element involved, but if you don't make the booking until you have received the money in full then there's no risk to yourself.

I'm always borrowing from the year ahead due to a misunderstanding when signing up in 2015, so the only way for us to catch up is to skip a year and we don't want to do that. We were only able to afford 100 points and it's not really enough to do anything with.

We're actually looking to buy another 100 or so points using some of OH's pension lump sum down payment while he carries on working somewhere else, but these would be via a reputable third party and not through Disney. As he will 'retire' this coming April we will be able to make a decision before the summer.

We rented out our points with Glenn at DVC Dream Rentals and got $13.50 a point for a booking more than 7 months out at our home resort and $11 for a booking less than 7 months out at another resort. Very quick and easy, 75% paid to us after the booking was confirmed with 25% to follow a couple of months before the stay. Well worth doing if you can't use your points, and I would highly recommend Glenn.

If you can I would hold fire and rent for a while and see how your circumstances look in a few years.

We have reached the point where out kids are 22 and 19 and now our holiday profile is so different to how it used to be. Suddenly we can take advantage of cheap flight times and our kids have also been on trips on their own with friends and also used our DVC. A few years ago we wouldn't have predicted the rapid change in our circumstances and we love our DVC as it gives us so much freedom now.

Thanks, I'm thinking of renting half my points to cover my dues, but would prefer the $ to be kept in $ and paid to my suntrust account instead of PayPal - so I don't suffer exchange rate.

I've linked my Suntrust account to PayPal, so if I receive payment in US$ I can transfer directly to Suntrust. I had to phone to do it, but it was very straightforward to set up over the phone and works perfectly. I rent points through David's DVC rentals and he is happy to pay via PayPal.

I've got our Suntrust account linked to PayPal as well. I linked them quite a few years ago, it wasn't straightforward then.

You have to physically go to a bank, with ID to open an account.

We're trying to sell one of our contracts. We've been DVC members for a good while now and are starting to want to see other places rather than going to Disney every year. We're keeping the smaller contract so we can go every three years.
