Hi all, having a family trip later this year and my DD's boyfriend is joining us for the 2nd week. I have already planned what we are doing (staying at SS first week) so Disney will be all but done by the times he joins us.
So the 2nd week will be 1 more day at Disney going to both HS and MK (wife's 50th) so will need a hopper.
Then 3 days at Universal, IofA and VB
The rest of that week is Busch, SW, DC, SK etc which is all sorted.

When looking at prices it is just mad... I find myself looking at 14 days passes which is such a waste of money...
Does anyone have any suggestions? Are there still booths over there selling tickets? Is it worth waiting and buying in dollars from somewhere...

Oh the stress...

Unfortunately the US tickets are such that it doesn't take much before the price equals and exceeds the UK ones. Nothing much that can be done about that, I think, but you can have a look at Undercover Tourist and Orland Attractions for US ticket prices.

The ticket booths will either sell proper, unused tickets at roughly the same prices, or they'll be timeshare offers that will get you the tickets for cheap but at a cost of a significant amount of your time (a few hours) to sit through a sales pitch.

A Universal 3 Park 3 Day Base ticket + 1 day free from orlandoattractions.com cost £203.20, but you can't ride the Hogwarts Express with this ticket.

If you want to ride the Hogwarts Express it will be cheaper to buy the Universal 3 Park Explorer ticket from floridaescapes.co.uk £216, or from orlandoattractions.com £216.80, as the 3 Park 3 Day Hopper ticket cost £228 from orlandoattractions.com.

As far as I can see the above are your best options, but maybe someone else can see a cheaper way.

As for the 1 day Disney Hopper ticket, I think you might be better off buying direct from Disney, but they're only showing prices until October 10th at the moment.
