DVC Beginner - Help!

Hi Everyone,
I’m relatively new to this but not new to Disney!
We are looking into DVC Rental for the first time and wondered if anyone had any guidance or tips please?
We are a family of 10 (3 separate rentals) looking for October 22.
I’m not even sure where to start or the pros/cons.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you

Fortunately you have time on your hands as no-one can book anything for you until November but you can register interest on some sites:
1. When? Sept is cheaper if that's an option?
2. Where? Some resorts are "cheaper" & others are harder to get
3. What type of room for those 3 bookings? Studios are cheaper
4. Once you've answered those 3 use the calculator on the right to give you a points total- this is the money starting point
5. 3 bookings is a lot of points so unlikely for a single Dibber to have that amount but then is each family booking their own ?
6. I'd suggest if it's "en masse" then looking at a DVC rental site - Dave's DVC request is one but there are others
7. Expect £10/point but you could pay more for the likes of the Epcot & MK resorts

So upsides:- It's a lot cheaper than booking a Disney Hotel & I do mean a lot but don't expect cheap IYKWIM
All perks of a Disney onsite booking, plus free resort parking. They are Deluxe so will also be entitled to the "new" deluxe evening hours

Downside & the only one that really matters is that there is an element of risk involved if you have to cancel, as alot is dependant on the owner/s that have secured your booking.

Thank you this is really helpful.

We are looking at a Studio but has to be October for our school holidays.

If we have the 3 separate bookings as you say, perhaps the DVC site is best? Wondering if this gives any flexibility on cancellation instead of a direct dibber rental?

Some of the rental sites offer Insurance sorry I don't know any details on that, the issue stems from the fact that the rental sites are generally the "middlemen" so whilst you book everything through them it's the owner who does the booking. The problem then arises that if any owner has a 2 week booking for you & then you cancel, they might not be able to do anything with those points but are still paying for them IYKWIM
