Mauritius

Looking at our plan B for when our Orlando holiday on 27th November gets cancelled. Has anyone got any advice on areas in Mauritius? I know nothing about it but I've found a reasonable deal on BA for Westin Turtle Bay and wondered if anyone had been? It's a direct flight, full board for 7 nights. It says its 5 stars and we wanta Little bit of luxury to make up for the past 18 months. Is it a good area? Manythanks

We went to Mauritius in Feb/March 2020. We stayed in Belle Mare based on recommendations of the beach (which was amazing) and snorkelling. The hotels on Belle Mare beach have trips out to their reef (5 mins on a boat) each day which is fab and you can walk along the whole beach. The stretch includes The Residence, The Lux Belle Mare and the Ambre resort.

We also hired a driver for the day and went around the whole island which was fab and would highly recommend this! We visited a few other beaches and the capital city.

We also did a few trips which are so reasonably priced. We did a five island boat tour from the Belle Mare area which included feeding wild monkeys and Ile Aux Cerfs. We also swam with wild dolphins and visited Benitiers island on another trip.

It was absolutely incredible and we’d definitely go back.

I’ve stayed at St Geran and Le Tousserok which are both in the Flaqc area which has beautiful beaches too. I don’t think you can go wring wherever you choose. There are lots of reasonable excursions and I’d also recommend getting a driver to tour the island. The waterfalls are stunning and the coral surrounds the island - it’s amazing. A boat trip is a must.

Is it somewhere you might hire a car for a day or so or are roads not great? Looking at Ambre resort as a possibility.
