Paris mini break

Thinking of taking my daughter to Paris for a couple of days - just main tourist sites really. Where is the best area to stay? Thinking of Eurostar. Just planning at the moment so any ideas welcome.

I’ve been going to Paris since I was 18 (50 years!). I’ve stayed in various areas and I usually plot an hotel for its proximity to a metro or RER station. I have avoided Montmartre and Gare du Nord areas in the past. For me they still have a ring of seediness about them - even if they’re not like it now, some things will always be like that. The last place we stayed at was near Malakoff metro station in rue Jean Bleuzen. It was an apart hotel and had a tiny pool but I can’t remember the name. Travelling was easy and nothing ever takes too long as Paris is so compact. However you might want to look for somewhere more central- perhaps Montparnasse? It’s quite a vibrant area.
