Places to stay/visit en route

Looking for location ideas to tag onto an orlando trip as we try to maximise flight costs etc.

Our thoughts are a few days prior to Orlando but we can't decide where.

2 adults 16 son

Ideas we have
London
Miami
New York- travel out to Boston/Washington

We have done NYC before but JFK is a fairly reasonable flight price to consider.

Is there anywhere else we should consider ? Are we missing anything obvious?

I should say, we probably plan to fly from Manchester to start with

We often do Dublin as flights are cheaper from there , likewise Sweden.
On t’other side of the pond Toronto, Boston, Nashville are all good spots as well as New York or Washington.
