Arriving at MCO from a domestic flight?
Hi. Usually we arrive at MCO on an international flight and pretty sure we collect luggage before getting the monorail. Is it different when collecting your luggage if arriving at MCO from a domestic flight?
I was watching a recent vlog from Best Life and Beyond who flew from LAX to MCO with Delta(exactly what we are doing and same flight time, very useful ) but they were on the monorail and then mentioned getting the luggage afterwards?

You have always been able to leave your luggage but most (UK) guests tend to pick theirs up as it's quicker at the other side IYKWIM I think generally the mon-rail is quicker than the time it's going to take for your luggage to get there

Oh I see. So they put their luggage on the belt that we Brits all avoid doing and struggle up the stairs with our cases?! I’ll still do that! It wasn’t clear in the video. I thought it was a different procedure for domestic flights

We land as domestic passengers into MCO after flying via Dublin, so have already done pre-clearance in Ireland. Having landed in MCO we still use the monorail to arrive at baggage reclaim and luggage is collected at domestic arrivals reclaim.

So it is different for domestic in that use the monorail first and then collect luggage?

Forgot to mention, if you’re landing as a domestic you won’t access your luggage before the baggage reclaim hall. You don’t need to as you just step off the plane, as there are no immigration/security procedures to go through requiring access to your luggage, pick up your bags and go.

Yes, you have dealt with immigration/security at first point of arrival to the US.

It is different. International arrivals don't use the main baggage claim area as customs must be cleared in the terminal, so there is a separate smaller international baggage claim there. Then you get the monorail to the main concourse and skip the domestic baggage claim area completely.
Domestic passengers don't need to do customs, so go straight from the terminal on the monorail to main concourse where the domestic baggage claim is. Once you realise there's two baggage claims, it makes a lot more sense. Edited at 12:22 PM. |
