Thank you! Recalling things from 5 years ago is definitely harder than doing a live report

Brilliant report, lots of our favourites - Red Lobster, Denny’s to name just a couple! You did well with all your dippin dots flavours too! Thanks so much for posting, it’s lovely to see great food pics and plan for the next trip. Xx Michelle

Fabulous report. We were maybe thinking of the doubletree in summer would you recommend it?

Yes (especially if you’re planning Seaworld/Discovery Cove as part of your trip). Obviously it was 6 years ago now, but the main lobby area etc. was lovely and you of course get the doubletree cookies which is a plus!
We stayed in the tower section and to be honest I would probably only ever do that, mainly because that’s the type of hotel we prefer (e.g. we’ve stayed at standard CSR before but are going back to the Gran Destino Tower this year as it’s just more our style) - I also think the tower looked a lot nicer and the rooms were large (not sure how big the other rooms are). It may have had a refurb since we were there though! I also remember there was a little grab and go food place on-site near the tower where we got a few bits from (I think it might have done pizza). There’s a gate at the back of the pool area (I think there’s 2, possibly 3, pools) where you can leave and be at Seaworld in 5 mins so it’s amazing for rope drop. I’m not sure if this is still a thing, hopefully it is, but you also got free quick queue for Seaworld by staying there. You could get it once a day from the concierge so that was fab especially for rides like Journey to Atlantis and Manta where there’s always bigger queues. You can walk out the front of the hotel to iHop, Denny’s and Red Lobster in 5-10 mins and there’s an itrolley stop right outside the hotel so it’s easy to get to other places and the outlets. This was the view from our room (I may have already posted this earlier in the report): Let me know if you have any other questions!

Aww thanks for such a great response.
I don’t think quick queue is still a thing but the proximity to seaworld would be fabulous for nipping in and out for rides. Is aquatica walkable? BA had tower rooms for less than £100 per night with no resort fee. Did the room have everything you needed, fridge, safe, coffee machine?

That’s a really good deal! We booked with BA for this 2016 trip too and the resort fee was included then as well.
I remember them saying at the time it’s walkable to Aquatica and we definitely tried it but I remember thinking it was quite dangerous! We may have therefore just gone the wrong way. I’m sure the hotel offered a shuttle too? Just seen your edit: We don’t drink coffee so I can’t remember that one! It definitely would have had a safe because I wouldn’t be able to rest without one so that wasn’t an issue. I also feel like there was a fridge but I can’t guarantee a 100%. Edited at 01:09 PM. |
