Miami - best area to stay family with older child?

Hi, looking at staying in Miami for a few days at the end of our trip next August.
Never been before, and I know it can be party central so need to find the right area for us (2 adults and DD 12). I've tried to research myself and North Beach area always comes up as being better for families, but I'm worried it's too far away for sightseeing and we would need a car.

Ideas/recommendations from wise Dibbers please.

We will not be driving.
Would like to be near a beach.
Would like to do some sightseeing so good public transport (do they have such a thing?)
No need for bars, nightclubs etc (I'm too old for all that now)

There are various bus services around the main areas but Miami is not that big so I think you would be fine using Uber (depending on what you want to see)

If you want to stay near the beach then you are looking at North / South beach areas.

Bayside is the most popular tourist attraction in Miami - essentially a collection of shops and restaurants and a dock for boat trips. The tour of the rich folk houses on a boat is good

From Bayside you are close to the Wynwood walls art district, which is another tourist attraction.

You will be fine without a car.

Thanks - that's really helpful. I noticed the free tram system along the beach but wondered if it would be a bit of a faff.
