The Cheyenne is lovely (it's like a real Wild West town with some Toy Story touches) but it's very much a value resort.

Tickets that come with a hotel stay have no monetary value, so you can't exchange them for an annual pass. To be honest, annual passes are currently very reasonable, so the better option would have been to buy annual passes ahead of time and book at the annual pass rate. If you stay more than 4 nights in a 12-month period, they pay for themselves.

For example, we're going for 3 nights in November staying at the Art of Marvel hotel, for £700 for 2 adults at the annual pass rate.

We've used Avios to pay for our flights so they cost a total of £36.

We will book airport transfers through RS Transports - round trip for 76 Euros.

We'll add on a dining plan which will be about £300 for the two of us. That covers buffet breakfast and a 3-course meal at most of the restaurants.

Oh thats interesting I had thought about booking SL for 3 nights in April then upgrading to AP while we are there. So not possible then ?

No - you can only upgrade day tickets.

Alternatively you could buy annual passes before you go, and book your SL stay at the annual pass rate. I have not tried to do this personally but there is a lot of advice online.

As said earlier though, changes are due to APs from November so we will have to wait and see now - it may no longer be worth it.

We still have not decided about the dining plan. I think there is no doubt it would be worth it as we enjoy breakfast and enjoy a nice dinner in the evenings too.

I am out off by the allocated breakfast time though, we would like to choose our own time for breakfast. Has anybody been recently that can confirm how it works, do you literally get no say in what time you can have breakfast? We’d be happy to stick to the same time every day if need be, we would just like to at least say when that is.

Also if we don’t go with the plan, is it not possible to have breakfast in the hotel at all? We would like to have breakfast on the last day paying £cash.

So if I buy an AP this Dec, how far in advance can you see the park reservations. Is it 365 days ahead from when you buy the AP

Thank you

Edit - Gill I have just seen your reply so I guess from what you are saying if you buy an AP after Nov there could be changes so no one knows for sure what may happen ?

In normal times you can go any time you want. We always turned up just before 7am and the queue was minimal. The allocated time slots just meant you got priority in the queue.

In covid times I have heard they are sticking to the slots in order to space people out. You could ask for a 7am slot but obviously it’s not guaranteed.

I have walked up and paid for breakfast before - again, in normal times. I can’t guarantee you could do this now. Breakfast times have never been bookable before, that’s a new thing, so perhaps it’s not possible to do a walk up currently.

It is only worth paying for breakfast if you are going to eat a lot. It is stupidly expensive without a dining plan.

If you don’t have a dining plan the alternatives are Earl of Sandwich, Starbucks, McD’s or my favourite, New York Style Sandwiches. Annette’s does a cooked breakfast but doesn’t open till later - I have a feeling it’s 10am. I haven’t heard good things about their breakfast.

They only release park reservations a month or so ahead and you can only book 3 days. This is because AP holders were booking whole months they never intended to use.

And yes, I have heard ‘buy or renew your AP before November’ although nothing official has been announced.

That seems to be what we have deduced, I don’t want to leave it to chance, I think we will go without the plan. We would like to have breakfast at least once in the hotel as we enjoy breakfast and would like to try it. We were thinking on our last day as we depart around midday so would have a leisurely breakfast before checking out.
