Beach in January

We're booked for Dec 27th to Jan 21st with 15 nights on Disney in the middle. So looking at places to stay either side and thought the beach would be nice.

But, can you go to the beach at those times swimming etc or is it too cold and a waste of time staying down there?

Thx for any replies and thoughts.

Weather is too variable in January to know. You may get some lovely warm days or you might get a cold front come through. Although I would say the sea will probably be slightly too chilly for comfortable swimming without wetsuits.

I would probably still book it if you want some nice relaxing days away from Orlando. But I'm quite happy to not go in the water, I used to live in a beachside town and never went swimming.

If you want the sea temperature above 70F then you must go to the south east corner from Palm Beach to Miami or to the Keys below Miami.

Water temps are cool then and weather variable, could actually be close to freezing.

You could still trek down to Miami and spend a few days exploring the urban jungle. And you might just get lucky with some hot weather for basking in the sun. The average high in January after all is 25C, nothing shabby about that. But there is a line that pretty much runs through Orlando. North of that line can be much cooler than south of it.
