Here's a salute to those who have left us, especially following the VA announcement to not start flights until 24th August, and I think it shows how amazing these forums can be when many of you have asked to still be part of this positivity thread, and are rooting for those still going!

Ok, so it's now confirmed AKL is open and I have park reservations.
Remaining things for me are: Someone to be flying (and at a reasonable price!) as I don't have a flight currently. USA to let us in FCO advice to be lifted No quarantine on return. I'm a little worried about the last 2 given the large rise in cases in Florida over the past week, but I'm still in the game... I have 6 weeks until I have to start paying balances.

It is with a very heavy heart to say we have moved our holiday to October 😢
A few different reasons for this but not actually thinking August won’t go ahead as there is still a chance it will! For 7 weeks during lockdown we had no income coming in whatsoever as we’re both self employed, so had to eat into a big chunk of our savings. We’ve managed to get them topped back up but my OH has finally been offered a permanent contract with his work so will be going from his own Ltd company being paid weekly to a monthly salary from the 1st July. So whilst this is great news as we’ve been waiting months for the contract to come through it’s obviously bad timing a month before holiday. Again, it would have been fine but I put my sensible head on and looked at flights for October as both my kids have a 2 week half term. The flights were great value in and out of Charlotte airport which is actually where we wanted to fly into this summer but were coming in far more than direct to Orlando so we bit the bullet last night and booked them. I’m gutted to be leaving the August group as this thread has been a ray of sunshine to me recently. I’m hoping I can be an honorary member like Mick as I’m still rooting for you all who are still booked for July and August 😘 |
