Perhaps we should do that in the uk with teachers ;-)
Good luck with that. There's a reason teaching has one of the highest drop out rates in the first five years in any profession...

We got an email at lunchtime that Aug 13th GAT-MCO @ 13.25 was cancelled. Clicked on manage my booking at it offered me the 10.50 flight on the same day so I took it. Now it may be cancelled later but that’s ok for now!

My DW is a deputy headteacher in a small primary school and has worked every day since lock down, including all holidays, bank holidays and been planning every weekend. The main reason I didn’t cancel our August trip is to take her away from the reality she is living at present. So you either have your head well and truly buried in the sand or you were either fishing for a bite. So well done you got one!

Interesting yesterday with BA. Email lunchtime to tell me its cancelled. So I phone them.

Flights are still going so I can re-arrange. Great! So we'll go day before. Ah you've got car hire so its BA holidays let us call them. £500 extra for the one day car hire. Umm no thanks I'll get an uber the day and collect car next day. Sorry can't do that.

After all that, oh do you want to fly on the 1020 flight instead of the 1300 flight though same day as planned? Ahhhhhhh YES.

BA lady was lovely though. I quizzed her a bit.

She said yes flights would run, they're just cancelling half of them. Pilots and crew are furloughed till end July at the moment. Of course, no-one knows.

I did ask what would happen if the flight runs but I can't go because of Trumps policy. I guess flights may run because some people are exempt (like us nationals).

She said in that case, we couldnt get a refund just a voucher. Not sure here.

Some positive speculation:

Martin Lewis has suggested that the blanket FCO essential travel only advice may be dropped, or announced to be dropped on Monday now that holidays are recommencing around Europe. This is progress!

Interestingly he said that in a poll (which I voted in) that it's a 50/50 split of people saying they would still travel or are now disinclined to.

One thing's for sure - if we do get to go there won't be a battle for that cocktail by the pool 😎

Great news!

My family are doing my nuts in with this. I'm sure they think I'm going to get off the plane at MCO straight into the zombie apocalypse or something.
