Is everyone feeling any Christmas spirit yet? I’m trying to but I realise it’s not going to be the same this year. I never go to Christmas parties or visit lots of friends and family for Christmas so I’m fine with not being able to do that. Plus, I feel safer not socialising too much.
DD can come home from uni (although I must admit, this was never in doubt for us as we wouldn’t have left her there anyway) and we are picking her up on the 6/7th December. DS and his fiancée are coming to stay Christmas Eve and we take them back on the 27th and we will celebrate together which is basically all we would have done on other years. DS who lives overseas will FaceTime us all on Christmas Day too. I’ve completed most of my shopping online with one or two trips to my small town nearby for the stocking fillers and a few other gifts. I’m picking up the Christmas groceries a bit at a time when I do my usual grocery shopping. I missed out and was too late to book a grocery delivery Christmas week so I’m going to have to pop out for the fresh food which I’m not looking forward to. I just hope I can find a quiet time to go I am missing having no theatre trips booked at Christmas or a meal out but as long as we are all safe and well and I can see the children at Christmas I’m not worried about anything else. |

Well, I wasn't but went for a walk along our nearest beach 30 mins away, the car park was packed and there was an enterprising couple selling real Christmas trees. They were really good shapes, couldn't resist Finished off with take away tea and chips on said beach, so feeling a bit happier (it was beautifully sunny which always helps)
Hope your Christmas goes well

I'm getting into the Christmas spirit but then I always love the preparations.
Outdoor lights went up last Sunday, 2nd in the street, had lots of compliments as we're almost finished gravelling the front garen too. Today, had a lovely walk to the town beach and back on my own, left family at home. It was grey but enjoyed the Christmas lights in town. I've now just put up our new Christmas tree, an Eiger 7ft 5 one from B&Q. Looks good at moment, a slimmer version than old tree, just over a metre wide at base so takes up less room. Will decorate tomorrow when DD is out and OH is sleeping off a N shift. Bought some chocolate and candy canes to try the Peppermint Bark recipe at some point. Been doing Christmas jigsaws for a while too. Most of shopping is done, just fresh stuff to buy. Wrapping up presents will be done after birthday before school ends. Cards are half written now, just got to finish notes etc to friends. Pleased with prep so far, just waiting to see if it'll be 3 or 5 for Christmas Day. Just take every day as it comes, no point getting stressed. Hope you'll get that festive feeling soon. |

I’ve been buying little bits for the last couple of months we have an additional freezer which helps
Couldn’t resist the espresso martini roulade in the frozen section of Lidl today and the half price bottle of port in M&S , plus some small cheeses for 89p each We don’t have a big family only 8 of us including parents so most present buying done online . Bought some amazing candle melts from a little company in Cardiff , they do a warm vanilla sugar melt just like the old Bath and Bodyworks one. Our outside tree will get decorated next week , we are famous in our road for our different tree theme each year 😁 DH bought me a huge branch of holly from his volunteering job so will be looking at making a wreath ASAP As I work in the day I find it so much easier to shop early evening thank good ness for B&m and home bargains for basics. Hope everyone has the best Christmas they can after this year xx |

That all sounds really festive. We are putting our outdoor lights up next weekend and when DD comes home from uni we are going to do the indoor decorations so I’m sure that will get me into the Christmas mood then.
We’re also planning on watching lots of Christmas films when DD comes home too so that will be fun. I’m really looking forward to seeing Last Christmas which is on Sky from this week on |

I’m going to Lidl’s this week and will definitely be looking for the espresso martini roulade, it sounds delicious.
I do hope you put a photo of your tree on here, what theme are you planning for this year? I love the sound of the candle melts too. I’ve not been to either Cardiff or Swansea shopping this year which I usually do but my local B&M has been a life saver for the stocking fillers and essentials this year. I think we will all appreciate the time together this year and celebrate in a more low key and as safe a way as possible 💕 |
