Flight Company - Who to avoid?
My DS is coming out to join us in October hopefully.
Looking at flights through Skyscanner etc. Are there any companies/agents I should avoid using, even if they look the cheapest? The prices seem to vary by quite a lot. |

I would look at buying direct from the airlines. They may be more flexible than a booker, but at the very least doing direct will cut out the middle man if you need to make any changes to your booking.
I am normally a bit sceptical of providers which sell the same the same flight for less. |

We always buy direct from the airline. My wife is quite risk averse so it just saves a lot of stress and as FamilyGWales says if there is a problem you won't have to deal with a middle man.

Avoid DREAMWORLD TRAVEL ... their prices are good but I waited over 6 months for a refund from them . They also don’t provide you with an e ticket until near departure date so you can’t book seats . Had nothing but problems with them.

I always look to book direct with any airline, even if it is a few pounds more, firmly believing in cutting out ‘middlemen’ as far as is possible.
I heavily use rather search engines, particularly Google flights in order to find the best deal on the best day, starting with one ways to find cheap legs and then combining them when I know that, say BA are cheapest to Tampa on a Tuesday. Having got what I think is the best deal, I then go on that airlines own website and if appropriate, their codeshare partners website, seeking to match my best research price. Finally, and if necessary, I then attempt a direct phone call and ask if they can match my best deal if it is still with a ‘middleman company’ were I to book right then..at that instant. Which airline? I will always now favour those airlines that acted lawfully and honestly over the past year when it came to refunds. I never forget lousy or dishonest service and this has permanently removed certain companies from my ‘approved’ list.

I'm not really adding much to this thread other than we always book direct with the airline. Hopefully we will soon see some light at the end of this awful tunnel but the number of posts I've read in the last few months - I've had my BA/VS/Tui et al flight cancelled but I booked through "Dodgy Cheap Flights.com" and I'm struggling to get my money back.
BA cancelled us a couple of weeks ago and the money was back on my CC within 48 hours. Mick

I think that airlines are far from settled at the moment. Over the next few months/year flight dates, times and frequency will change. The airlines dont really yet know demand.
If you book with a consolidated you are not in control. Book with one of the big boys, my choice would be BA as their cancellation/refund treatment of their passengers has been excellent. Pay a bit more and have piece of mind. |
