Pretty sure they overbook, people don’t return cars when originally booked etc.

My neighbor works at Dollar at MCO and they are being told to prioritize direct bookings over third party bookings at the moment

Dollar did this to us years ago. They said hire cars are like plane seats and are overbooked so it's first come first served. They eventually found us a car that was due to go out of use and then exchanged it for another one the next day.

I e read that this was common during spring break. They couldn’t keep up with demand
.
I’m booked through Andy DFCH for Aug, would this count as a direct booking with Alamo? I have no wiggle room for alternatives. I need a 7 seater as I am the only driver (and 3 pre teens and all the luggage) 😂😂

That’s worrying! Hopefully our flight will be on time and we’ll be fine!

Indeed. I guess the alternative will be to use Taxis and charge it all back to the airline.

A potential advantage I can see of booking with one of the bigger players in Florida tourism say Virgin Atlantic/Holidays or BA with the historic volume of cars they hire for UK clients with Alamo /Avis each year must have a bearing on priority for their clients, if that ever did need to come into play.

With an upturn in tourist visitors coming up no doubt the car hire companies will have new additional cars coming into the fleet over the next few months.

Personally, I’m not at all concerned by stories such as this.

Hmmm Interesting. I don't know that they have. We had this experience in LAX a few years ago. We were Avis/BA, they ran out of most categories and we grabbed a fairly beat up Corolla in the end to get out of there but there was no priority given to the guys who were loudly shouting about their status, the other people from our flight etc. As we drove off they were still sitting outside waiting and the whole scene was chaos. I wouldn't worry about it either now because there's enough happening without worrying about cars at this stage but getting any priority because you're booked through BA I really wouldn't expect.

Lol the issue is the car manufacturers can’t supply the cars as they can’t get the parts needed. It’s not as simple as getting more cars
