I'll give him a call... I live in Hull (01482), so it's the price of a local call 😅

I've been getting good prices with Avis and Budget for September from discover cars.

As we've owned an old motor on Bokeelia since 2015 I don't monitor car hire prices, if we've flown into MCO I'd hire a one day/one way drop to/from Bokeelia via Budget for circa £25. Saw a quote of £2500 for a 3 week, 7 seater, and almost swallowed my tongue. Checked Budget's one day/one way price to Mia vs the £27 we paid last April when we had to get home asap, a whopping 183% increase to £78!

If we needed car hire for next winter, a 178 day economy hire would set us back £10,561 vs our FL car insurance, including breakdown, and tag at circa $623 plus any repairs.

I'm with Gadgey Mick and Tom, don't hire via a US site as their prices are aimed at renters who use their own US car insurance. Even tho I hold a US policy I always hire via Budget UK as dealing with the insurer/Budget would be too much hassle for the saving on a one day hire.

I can see that you can opt for "full coverage" but it only says that it includes "SLI" and I can't see how much. Is it for the $1m that most of us look for or only the $25k State minimum?

That's a good question. Looking at it closer in the rental conditions for Avis:

RENTAL PRICE EXCLUDES:
Airport Service Charge
Supplementary Liability Insurance

Yet, both are included with Budget at a cheaper price.

Maybe not such a good deal after all depending on the SLI coverage.
