Virgin pricing error

I booked a hotel online on Thursday with Virgin Holidays, they have taken my deposit and sent me a booking confirmation. Having received several emails since, regarding manage my booking and do I wish to set up a direct debit? I have just received an email saying they have cancelled my holiday due to a system pricing error! Has anyone had any experience of this? I'm absolutely gutted

This happened once with a hotel I booked with Virgin. It was obviously a crazy deal but still annoying when they cancelled it.

Their prices fluctuate daily, it's not fair that they can cancel!

So unfair - these companies seem to make up the rules as they go along. It would be a different Story if you had cancelled.

No! I complained via email and didn't get a response. I had a phone call yesterday from them saying it was a system error and I could still have the hotel if I was willing to pay another £4500 on top of what I'd already paid! I paid £2158 originally. I told them I could book the hotel & flights included with BA for just over £6000 to which they replied 'I can't comment on BA's prices.' When I asked why it had taken them 4 days to discover their error they told me it was due to hurricane Irma.

Thanks. I had actually read that same article when I looked into my rights. It's in their booking conditions that they have the right to cancel, which puts me off booking with them again. Although I'm aware most companies have the same terms and conditions! In my opinion there should be a clause which says the only have 24hrs to do so!

You are unlikely to get your booking re-instated but you might get some kind of good will gesture if you were ask them ? - try posting on social media to see if they would be willing to do something to make up for your disappointment/inconveniece (of having to re-source accommodation) etc
