Or just use more than one card. Last time me and DH and DD were in London we used our own two debit cards and I just gave DD my credit card to use.

I like the idea of walking to st prancras and getting the train from there
My ticket does say Victoria to gatwick

Would that be an issue

* I believe they found the remains of a pacific walrus in a coffin at saint pancras along with 1500 bodies
Hiya Mike - if you're arriving into KGX you can 2 min walk into St Pancras and hop on the mainline train from Bedford that calls into LGW. We did this option many years ago, far easier than phaffing on with the tube. The St Pancras to LGW fare was circa £9pp.

I don't believe Mike is arriving into Kings Cross, as he mentions walking from Euston (which is the West Coastline).

However if you are arriving into Kings Cross some trains from the North stop at Stevenage and the Thameslink service which you catch at St Pancreas also (previously) stops at Stevenage.

Changing at Stevenage "could" be cheaper, its also means you don't have to change station (not that much hassle I know) and you get on the train before the city, so during peak periods more chance of getting a seat before the commuters get on.

If you are issued with actual tickets for the complete journey then on the ticket it should have a cross which indicates it can be used on the tube. Also if the ticket says via any applicable route you could use the st pancrass train. However it appears you may have a ticket which states the actual route eg stafford -> london euston -> london victoria -> gatwick. In which case you will need to follow that route and it should include the tube element.

if you're arriving into Euston, then planning on getting the Thameslink from StPancras, getting the tube inbetween would be totally pointless and something only a tourist would do.
The stations are literally a 3 minute walk apart and the tube takes you into the wrong part of StPancras for the Thameslink, plus you would really need the Circle/Met line which means leaving Euston and walking the wrong way to Euston Square tube station.

Sounds like a win all around , Euston to Victoria on the tube is a mare with luggage.

I hate travelling in London. So much so that my train journey in February will be using an overland train from Stevenage to Gatwick rather than messing about with the tube.
