Special needs provision
I thought it might be good to share experiences of the return of special needs schools and adult services as things slowly return to normal.
I have DD in special school, year 6, i have explained to school her additional vulnerabilities, and concerns even if she goes back it will be very "different" to what she is used to and by the time she adjusts to that it will be school holidays. She may go back for one day for a transition visit, although her secondary school remains in the same school, and she is familiar with the classrooms etc. My adult son has 1:1 for 4 hours a week to help with tasks, although they have called, he doesnt feel safe having them back again. Am hoping he changes his mind soon, probably after next step of lockdown, as he is very worried about the virus. I think it would help his mental health to try to get back to some sort of normal. He is a very socially distanced individual at the best of times, but even he is struggling! It would be good to hear of other support resuming too.
