I’ve been looking at flights for next March but I can’t see convertibles in the car group.😊

BA offer car hire through Avis which includes fully inclusive insurance; you can also join Avis Preferred to go straight to the garage and British Airways Executive Club to get your spouse as a 2nd driver for free.

We always book this way & have had some major bargains; our best, when we added a SUV for 3 weeks, the cost of flight only to flight plus car increased by only £52!
Mainly because you can choose your own vehicle rather than having one allocated to you. We've always used Alamo and had great service with no upsell. And also because we like Alamo's toll charges.

We always get the fly drive with BA and never had any up sell at all. We are members of Avis preferred so just go straight to the garage, no need to see anyone. We find it a very cost effective way of doing things. We don’t care what car we get, as long as its in good condition and in the class we book, so this may be the deal breaker for you.

Must agree with this- we’ve used Dollar and Alamo and I always thought Alamo were the best until we started to book with BA😬- we find the fly drive packages extremely competitive and also find Avis the best car hire we have experienced. No Upsell, straight to garage and no charges added agreed return of car.

I just add one night in the cheapest hotel on I-drive if I want deposit only (usually makes flights cheaper than flight only too) and I'm not coming down the night before (if I am an airport hotel for the night before makes it a holiday package. You have to book on the BA holidays site choosing flight+hotel

This is what I'm doing but I can't get it to work. It wants me to pay the full amount. 🤷

Apologies if this has already been asked-have you tried doing it as custom your trip and then added hotel to a flight booking?

Yes, I've tried all ways with different flights, different hotel stays and selecting different options.

Actually I've just tried adding a hotel for the entire duration on my stay, not just one night or 4 nights which I was trying before, and then it offers me a deposit option.

Those of you that have managed to do it with one night hotel only, I'd be interested to know which flights you've booked just to have a play and see what's going on!

Use the visitors toll pass, better than any car hire toll payment system.
