I-Ride Trolley to be suspended from 30th Aug

Apparently, the I-Ride trolley bus service up and down International Drive is going to be suspended until further notice from Sunday 30th August.

This pause is only temporary though and the date the service will resume will be determined sometime in November. Although that does mean the I-Ride won't be running for all of September and October and probably won't be running for the first half of November. The Lynx bus service will continue to operate so people can use that instead during this time.

There's a little more info here:

I guess the number of visitors to the International Drive area is significantly lower at the moment. And with American schools restarting in the next couple of weeks, visitors numbers are going to drop even further in September. However, I am surprised they are temporarily stopping the entire service though; I would have thought they would simply reduce the frequency of buses.

The Lynx buses have been free during all this, entrance from the rear door and no payments at all.. I suppose there's very little need for I ride as there won't be many tourists around just now, a lot of the hotels haven't opened yet either.

Not surprised to be honest, hardly anyone’s staying on idrive at the moment. And as scotmama said I also heard that lynx was free too and it’s a far superior service to the iride

Lynx is definitely still free. There are notices on all the buses that have been stopped next to me. I Drive is very quiet at the moment without conference goers and foreign tourists.

I hadn't realised that the Lynx buses were free at the moment until Scotsmomma's post. Therefore it's understandable that the I-Ride won't be used as much.

Though I do hope it is just temporary as mentioned in the article I linked. Although I agree that the Lynx service is superior, I have fond memories of going up and down I Drive on the I-Ride trolley buses and I would be sad to see them go. They were a nice little tourist attraction in themselves, especially in the early days when the drivers used to be very entertaining.
