Michael Palins Travels

Has any one just watched this?...I was so excited to watch it again...just loved it 30 years ago and do now.
Could not afford to go to any of those places then... they were all a pipe dream...and then a few years later practically followed him...Cairo...Hong Kong..Dubai..India...some of those places I would be too scared to go to now which is really sad...loved watching it all again and seeing those fascinating places and the way he made it so interesting.
But sad that it is such a different world now.
Looking forward to next weeks.
I always said my ideal job would be Michael Palins bag carrier🙂.

I remember watching it on VHS, My first ‘box set’. Thought it was brilliant and have enjoyed rewatching it recently.

We just watched the new program tonight and I liked the added perspective of older Michael.

I’ve recorded this to watch later as I’m a huge fan of all the series he did. I loved reading the books too.

Absolutely love Michael Palin and all his travel journeys so I was gripped by this 💕 We saw him live in Sheffield a few years ago, again talking about his adventures, and he was amazing!

If you haven’t already I’d strongly recommend getting the book of Around The World. Michael Palin’s writing is superb

This was fabulous! So interesting to see the changes in the places but also the people and their perspectives

We recently bought a bookcase just for our collection of his books😍
As you say his writing is superb...you feel that you are actually there with him...also his North Korea book and Erebus are also good reading.
We were lucky enough to see him on his tour when he came to Liverpool...I could of listened to him all day.

I used to love him but find it so dated now.

My appetite was whetted for travel shows with Judith “no knickers”Chalmers and Wish you were here - This week I am visiting Barbados while Johnny is visiting Blackpool - she was so camp that I fell in love with her and her love for the good life in destination
