Mobile Christmas dinner & Christmas buffets

I know this is completely selfish and there are far more important issues going on at the moment.
But my mum is in a panic already.

She doesn’t want to place the M&S food order because we don’t know how many people can go yet.

We usually have a buffet on boxing day with her sister & children etc but it is not looking likely but do you buy buffet items or not 🤔

Its like everything is on hold. Not much we can do about it but wait and see.
Are you buying & preparing as normal? Or are you going to wait until closer to the time?

We’re buying turkey, ham as normal. For buffet items - we’ll probably add to a delivery that we can change nearer the time. I’m also making sure we are buying items that we can freeze so they will last if we can’t have a big family get together.

I think I am resigned to the fact that Christmas will be different for us. However, I am “planning” the same.
I have ordered Christmas dinner for 6 from M&S. it’s convenient and easy.

I cook most of our buffet items from scratch, I’m doing that the same, but will freeze in smaller batches. Sadly I don’t think we will be having the big Christmas Evening and Boxing day get togethers, but hoping for a few smaller little celebrations.

I have seen my nephew every Christmas day & boxing day since he was born. He will be 17 this year 😟

Me and DH will be on our own this Christmas, DD2 is home from the 19th to the 23rd Dec but then going back to Weymouth to spend the holidays with her fiancé who has to work, we will see DD1, DS and DD3 on Christmas Eve when we go visiting... our big New Years Eve get together won’t happen this year but as long as they are all safe and well that’s the most important thing...
I tend to prep and freeze buffet and dinner food well in advance and buy bits for the buffet that are frozen or freezable... if we have to have 3 buffet get-togethers then so be it... me and DH will have a very lazy Christmas and buffet bits go down well with a glass or two, so nothing will go to waste...
