No , no another thread about the second in line for the throne but to do with "last will and testament". If you are a couple with children (or even without) have you made any provision for digital resources such as computer, Web sites and social media.

If so - how have you done this ?

Of course we mustn't forget that all of us change our passwords on a regular and frequent basis don't we

This is where password managers come in very handy. You only need to be able to exchange the master password with them to allow them access.

I have a unique email address and password (high complexity and length) for every site.

Ours is done in a specific way that does not make it obvious as to what that master password is for and kept in a safe in case it is needed for whatever reason.

Remind me again what your address and birthday is?

That will no doubt go most of the way to getting into your safe!

I do not like password managers, what is the point of having all your carefully crafted passwords stored in one container that only requires one password to be breached and they have them all?

No, it won't give you any access to know those details, code is not related to them at all and also requires a key (plus I don't use my real b-day for any sites that don't need it to be legitimate). And then you would also have to know where the information is in the safe and how to decode it.

Password managers are far safer than most peoples manual method, by far. Use the right password manager and the company providing it does not know the password. It is a personalised encrypted database which all they can see is that encrypted blob file. It has 2 factor authentication against it, so even if you did get the password you would not be able to access it.

I am a certified ethical hacker, so know more than a thing or two about technology & security.

You are far more vulnerable in not using a good password manager than not. There is no way you could remember hundreds of complex passwords by memory, so without one you are either re-using a password (no matter how complex) or writing it down somewhere.

It only takes one site to be hacked and any re-used passwords are compromised. Even worse if you use the same email or username across those sites as well.

Yep!
I made the comment on that thread that you're generally advised not to take part in surveys/polls along the lines of "what was No 1 on the day you were born", take the name of your pet, put it with the title shown in this grid against your month of birth and that's your royal name" etc.
Gives those with ulterior motives some of the most common info people use for passwords.

People think they are a bit of fun. They originate on social media. There have been a lot copied on here with various questions and I’m astounded at the information people give!

So I have been thinking about this, it's not just the access part but what happens to your digital self (or purchases, iTunes, I cloud, digitally stored photos, who has right of access and when they are deleted). It's a minefield.

Tried to get around some of it with a Gmail set up with all relevant docs to transcend on there, but because the second email is tied to my first it all goes. Need to think again.

Google apps all autodelete on death for example.

I saw a case a couple of years ago when a family ended up in a legal dispute with either Facebook or google (can’t remember which) who wouldn’t let her use or take the photos from there as they didn’t belong to them
