Bit of advice pls

Planning my September 2021 trip was the first trip I've booked, planned and saved for by myself so gutted its all been affected by covid but anyway I see other people saying they've put deposits down for other holidays etc in case there's cant go ahead. When I booked I made the mistake of booking with a holiday company rather than direct (good price but also learned from my mistake!) My question is when april 2022 flights are released should I put a deposit down with BA for example if I see a good price and in case my september holiday doesn't go ahead? I've paid in full with the holiday company but assuming if we can't fly out il get a refund then I can just use that for April next year with BA and if it does go ahead il just loose the ba deposit or get a voucher? I just don't want to wait till just before we are due to travel in September for it to be cancelled and then find all prices for 2022 are huge and we then can't afford to go? Hope that all makes sense!

We’re also booked for September. I expect to know a few months before whether it’ll be viable. I’m holding off booking anything other than maybe a Disney hotel if it’s free cancellation for 2022.

Can you pay a deposit on flight only? Not sure

I see keely21 has replied that she is looking at flight plus a hotel but in response to your question above re a deposit for flight only - the answer is sadly no.

Check with your holiday company what the cancellation policy is as it might be better to rebook with them

If you can afford to then I don't think this is a bad idea, especially if you see a good price and the deposit is low. The BA sale just ended at end of Jan so prices at the moment aren't probably the best they are going to be but I'd be inclined to keep an eye out and grab a bargain.

As long as you are fine potentially loosing the deposit I'd say go for it personally. I'd rather have options and with BA I think I've seen their deposit as low as £75 for some holidays which doesn't seem too bad.
