State pension

I am due my state pension from tomorrow as I am 66. I filled the on-line form last November , was told I was eligible and told me how much it would be, and that I need not do anything else. Today I contacted the DWP to make sure my carers allowance stopped as I cannot have CA and SP. cut a long story short they had not been informed of SP, due and could not find any records. A few phone calls later, I was told I should have had a letter two weeks ago, and the reason I had not heard is I needed to answer some security questions, so now they can go ahead. I now have to wait for the CA people and the SP people to have a conservation. It really does beggar belief, if I had not rung up they would not have proceeded, in all I have been 3 hours on the phone, going for a lie down now. To add if I don’t hear anything within 2 weeks I need to contact them

I am due mine in a few days. As you say the letter is the key to it all as that contains the unique code to log in to the system

I think my letter came in circa last Nov, maybe earlier.

HI Tom, I did that last November to, but when I spoke to them today, they said I should have had a letter 2 weeks ago, which I didn’t know I was to receive, so if anyone is due their sp, perhaps it is an idea to ring them 2 weeks before.

OK. Found it.

First letter received 26th October 2020 asking me to apply and giving the code to use online which I did a few days later

Letter received 15th November telling me how much I would get in March and then a different amount from April onwards.

I too had a problem with SP last September. I did the initial online claim and had a confirmation letter of payment date and amount (can't remember if I had a second letter). Anyway payment wasn't made - it had been 'disallowed'. An emergency payment was made and assured everything was fine. Four weeks later, no payment - more lengthy calls and another emergency payment - this time with an apology they had messed up. Payments have been on time since then, but it takes hours on the phone just to get a simple matter resolved. They're almost as bad as British Gas!

I start mine in April. They said that it would be every four weeks but I asked them to do it weekly, which they have agreed to do.

I am going to ring next week, it was when the carer allowance man said they would wait for message from sp man, and then Sp said he would wait for message from ca man, couldn’t make it up, I can see from your replies, that I am not on my own. In the last two weeks my bank account has been hacked, my phone has died and then this today. I hope that’s it now..
