Some forget that visiting a foreign nation involves two governments allowing access.

The US aren't on the red list though?

I believe the red list is the U.K. list. Just because we can fly there, it doesn’t mean that they will let us in.. or at least that is my understanding.

Yeah, but the point that cornishfrogboy is making is that just because the UK allows travel from the US doesn't mean that the US allows travel from the UK.

It doesn't matter what our government does or says or what it puts on a red list (or not, in this case). If that country's government doesn't allow travel from the UK then we can't travel there. And we don't have any control over that*.

(* well, in an indirect way, we sort of do. If we significantly reduce the numbers of infections/cases then the other countries may allow us to travel to them)

I already said that I hope Biden lets us in. I'm fully aware that we can't travel to the US at the moment.

I don’t think you are crazy at all! If you are enjoying planning and you can change it if you need to, then why not?! Nothing wrong with that. I booked a holiday in December for this June. It’s not to the US, but I was fully aware that there was a chance (probably more than a chance) we might not go and that’s still the case but I don’t regret it. It’s given us something to look forward to.
