Thing is , in a normal year a student can demonstrate with exam results that a teacher’s opinion is wrong (I did it myself ) but if exam results are going to be based on assessments either in part or in full this year that’s a different matter even leaving aside the demotivating element.

Don’t know if it helps but many years ago my final teacher report said I had not contributed to the school academically or on the sports field. A few weeks later they had to give my house colours for sport and I got 3 A levels. Eventually University and a 1st class BA followed by an MA.
Just remember they know nothing about your commitment really despite all the comments. Edited at 05:02 PM. |

My first name is Sara but I’ve been known as Kate from birth, which is my middle name. Mum and Dad could tell which teachers knew me and which ones were fudging from which name they used when they filled out their reports!
OP, I hope your daughter is okay.

Hey, teacher here - just another perspective altogether. Our system (which may be different to the ones used by your daughter's school/college) has a score section 1 through 4 and it's all of your register in the one go.
So for example it'll be A Anderson Effort, Behaviour, Homework then when you enter the last number without pressing the return key it takes you onto the next pupil. With a list of 33, it's dead easy to put the wrong number beside a pupil, especially if you skip a section (so say I had a class that I didn't give much homework to, I'd skip putting a 1 to 4 there) or just even if your finger slips. Have her email the teacher to check, I understand in the case of your daughter she has really taken it to heart but it could honestly be a total mistake. I've had a pupil email to check her score for one section. It was a grade meant for a pupil below - couldn't actually say that (confidentiality and all, she knows who is before and after her on the register) so I emailed her back saying she was right to question it, I clicked the wrong button by mistake and she was supposed to be a 1 under that section. Please show your mum this email to confirm it's a genuine mistake. |
