Mobile Refurbished IPads

DD has hinted she would like an ipad for Christmas and as we are struggling for other ideas I'm lookingin to it for her. A brand new one is out of budget and as she has an iPhone I don't see the point in getting her a cheaper android tablet, plus I'm not sure how much she would use it so I've been looking at refurbished ones. Has anyone any experience of getting one? Where did you get it from and what model and memory size would you recommend?

I haven’t bought refurbished but I deal with a lot of iPads. Make sure it can be upgraded to the latest iOS. And the newer the better as the older ones will stop being upgradesble first.

iPad (5th - 8th gen)
iPad Mini (5th gen)
iPad Mini 4
iPad Air (3rd gen)
iPad Air 2

The more memory the better but ar least 32gb. At school iPads with 32gb do run out of space occasionally but we put a lot of school apps on. 128 gb iPads rarely run out of space but they are significantly more expensive. I have a 32gb and I manage with that but I sometimes have issues when I am doing scrapbooking in it (which is a heavier task than most kids do )

I bought my DH a refurbished iPad, for his birthday, direct from Apple. There’s been no issues with it and I’m glad I didn’t pay full price for it, as I can’t tell the difference. I also like that if there are any issues I can just take it to the Apple store.

Actually, I think my iPad may have been refurbished from Apple too. I’ve had it about 3/4 years now and *touch wood* it’s not had any problems either.

We bought one direct from Apple, looked absolutely perfect and the only way you’d know it was refurbished was it came in a plain white box. You can have a look on their website and see what they have in stock, usually a good range so you can pick what model you want.

My youngest has the iPad Air and it won’t upgrade to the most recent IOS, I think the memory is the lowest one and we haven’t had any real issues with that.

I think we are going to get her a new one for Christmas, the IPad is around £350 and the IPad Air £550, I’m not sure what refurbished prices are like

I've just had a look at apple but they only have the 5 mini at the moment and it's still over £300 so will take a look at other sites as I think I would prefer a 10inch one for her I think

As others have suggested, Apple's own refurb store is always worth checking out. Most of the time the products are essentially brand new, possibly returns or with a packaging issue.

They always come with a full warranty.
