Flights change

Can I claim a refund if my holiday company changes my flights from Glasgow direct to via London .

I'm sure you can, sounds like they've cancelled your original direct flight and re routed you without consulting you. It's classed as a major change because they have changed your flight number.

I thought so to however when I’ve read the small print with my TA they have stated that they class a “minor” change as direct to indirect, flight time change up to 12 hours and an airport change such as Gatwick to Heathrow

Bit shady that, most other companies regard it as major. Looks like they've got you there with that small print. What does it say about changes to arrival time? and what is the difference between new and old times?

My virgin flight 29/9 from man just been cancelled so waiting to see what they say. One of the reasons why I won’t be booking with Ocean Florida again

I would look to see if the flight number has changed, if it has then I thought that this counted as major and you were entitled to a refund?

Cancellation – If your flight is cancelled you're covered by law and entitled to a refund or alternative flight. If the cancellation is within 14 days of departure you could also be entitled to compensation. See Flight Cancellation Rights for more. It's not always clear if your original flight has been cancelled, but a good indicator is if your flight number has changed. If in doubt ask the airline if it was cancelled.

If you're moved to a different flight altogether (ie, a different flight number) you'd likely be covered under different, far tighter EU flight cancellation laws
