Jet 2’s Views on Covid Refunds

“We’ve respected that it’s customers’ money at the end of the day, and they should have it back. That’s been our guiding principle. We have given our customers their refund as quickly as possible and I think they will remember that.

“Going forward, people may want to book with a company they know they’re going to get their money back from if there’s no holiday to be provided. We have no problem refunding our customers’ money. At the end of the day it’s theirs. Not refunding the money, well, it’s a bit like theft really.”

Great speech from a CEO. I always remember comments such as this.

In fact I remember lots of comments and not just about business.

Perhaps other, less reputable companies should take note of this refreshing attitude and simply comply with the law, refunding people as near as possible within 7 working days, rather than 120.. and more. Jet2 will now be on my approved list along with British Airways, American, Delta and United. (If I go Eastwards, I have no idea who I will use).

We had booked with jet 2 to go to Tenerife in August , they were brilliant and we had a refund within days ... they were very helpful and professional and at the time and we said after we would happily book with them based on how they dealt with all of this 👍

They were fab back in April when our holiday to Tenerife was cancelled. I would defo use them over anyone else.

We often see (rightly) threads criticising companies on here. Despite having its knuckles rapped by the CMA, there’s STILL threads about Virgin not refunding. Disaster that company has been I’m afraid to say, and I was a big fan.

But it’s nice to post about a company with great efficacy such as Jet 2.

Jet 2 is an extremely well run business that came from transporting flowers to being recognised as a leader in packages and flights. The staff we encountered in July were all brilliant too.

We were stuck in Ibiza during the Icelandic ash cloud incident.

We were with Jet2 who were excellent and eventually flew us home after 7 days.

Our friends were with Ryanair who just cancelled the flight and told them they were on their own. It took them 10 days to get home via ferry and train.

Guess which airline we favoured after that?

Jet2 have been brilliant, we had 2 holidays booked with them & I’d booked one for my parents, all cancelled, my 2 were refunded within days, my parents amended to next year as there wasn’t much difference in price for theirs unlike ours, they have also put frequent updates on instagram & their websites 👍

I have never personally used Jet2 but both my husband and daughter have many times and have nothing but praise for them.

The last flight my husband took was diverted mid flight for a medical emergency, kept everyone informed gave everyone on board a drink while waiting and was soon on its way with an overall delay of about 2 hrs, handed everyone on board a £60 voucher to use when disembarking, there was no legal requirement for them to do this, they just did it.

My daughter went on a package trip to Iceland, part of the trip was to see the northern lights, their T&C clearly states no guarantees and but unfortunately the skies were not playing ball and again everyone was given a £60 voucher for the ‘disappointment’ again they didn’t have to.

Due to the current situation my daughter (and apparently OH) have received another voucher in the post for when ready to rebook due to Covid, yes I appreciate it is a marketing tactic to get her to book with them but I haven’t seen Virgin doing this who we have flown with more times than I can remember

Jet2 cancelled our flight to Venice in October a few months prior and we had a refund within 48 hours of the cancellation email.

Great service.
