I'm looking at a new kitchen too, my range cooker and hood is knackered. My fridge and the freezer are on their way out too.
I've had some designs done already and have more to do. I really want a corner larder but they are big and not cheap. Trying to decide on where to put the hob. Then there is the style and colour etc etc.

A friend has that layout and hasn’t regretted it. The dishes go directly in the sink (so no clutter on the island) then rinsed a little as they’re transferred to the dishwasher. She has a very deep sink and her taps have a spray function thingy.

My SIL has a huge kitchen island, sink on the island and I'm not a fan. Always dishes sitting on it, looks untidy.
I like pic 1, however is there room to turn your island to face the patio door? Or would that not work. |

Here is another plan
i am not going to be asking for any more edits to the plan, as for quote purposes this is enough. I love the wood splashback pattern but is it bit too unusual? We will go for build in fridge instead of as in the plan, it is just silly to design around 1k fridge when spending a lot more to get the kitchen we want We will keep the window. There is minimal light coming in but if there are cabinets there it will feel too cramped and little light is better than no light

I love the wood splashback. I don’t know if it’s unusual but if you like it then who cares? It’s your home. Have what you like.

Just remember you will have to maintain a wooden splashback really well.
Our neighbours have wooden worktops - only 2 years old - and all round the sink is blown 🤨 |

It's actually good quality laminate! It's not natural wood
