Booking back up holiday with BA

I have 2 weeks booked for this October but it's getting near to crunch time. I have only paid a deposit.
I'm starting to think about booking a back up for next year as I don't want to miss out on the dates for June/ July but I'm not sure how it would work for payment?

Id just pay a deposit for the next dates and if my October one gets cancelled I'll have my deposit returned?

I am in a similar position too. Have a BA flight, car and Disney tickets booked for Oct only paid deposit. I cannot cancel as the Disney tickets are non refundable so I would lose my deposit - though I added the tickets via their web chat and was not told this at the time….
Anyway, I’m thinking of booking a plan b with deposit only for next summer. But if my Oct trip is cancelled by BA I think I can move it and only pay the difference in car hire and tickets. I really need to speak to BA to discuss options but can’t face the queues!

I believe so? I think, if you already have your next one booked, you'd be able to just move the balance of what you've paid straight over.

If not, you'd defo get a voucher that you'd be able to apply to your booking next year.

You can't apply any vouchers to existing bookings, but you can combine multiple vouchers into a new booking.

Just book it now. Are you doing more than 1 hotel? You could use your October deposit to cover a different hotel.

At present we have October and February booked and hoping to book a July trip in the next week or so.

If October is cancelled I’ll use this deposit to book a trip for next October. But if I wasn’t looking to do this I’d not book all my hotel accommodation and use the current October deposit towards the missing nights accommodation. If that makes sense.

We usually get a villa because it costs the same as 2x hotel rooms and my lot just love having a pool to themselves

So I've booked it. So if October gets cancelled I'll get a voucher to use on a new booking? That will be towards 2023s Mexico trip then
