Me and my best friend are going to see Julian Clary at the Civic Hall and would like a glassette of wine (or 3) and something to eat before the show. Does anyone know anything within walking distance?

I've been to civic once before & all I can remember is that it's right in the middle of the city so you really shouldn't struggle to find somewhere but sorry I can't be more specific on the places to go. Have fun

Yates is about 30 seconds away. There's a bar next door, I forget what it's called, but I remember it being expensive!

Yates would certainly be my choice - it's just a few minutes walk from The Civic and is nice inside (it was refurbished recently).

Yes the Civic is just a "street" away from the centre so plenty of choices to be had.Lots of little bars and eateries surrounding the venue,but if you want cheap then as mentioned Yates is literally around the corner from the street where the Civic is.Not really bought any drinks from inside the Hall so cant comment on the prices.

Just reminded me Yates was where we went before the gig, fair few years ago now though & then we went to a small quirky little bar after, not far from the venue at all, might have even been next door?
