I would have told them and did when we were on holiday in Crete. They were very grateful and said we could have the items on the house anyway. They got a nice tip.👍

I would have told them. I didn’t get charged for my carrier bag the other day and felt the need to point it out and that was only 5p. I would never be able to cope with the guilt of knowing I’d paid £15 less.😊

I would have told them but I probably wouldn't have noticed! Just like I didn't notice a service charge included and left a tip last time we had a big family meal.

I always highlight stuff like this and without a doubt would’ve done the same as you. My parents are horrified at me when I do things like that, they are firmly in the camp of not saying a word.
I believe in karma and generally setting a good example for my kids. |

I would tell them. I doubt my husband would though which would result in stern words 😡
Honesty is always the best policy. |

I would have told them... but honestly (and maybe its just a cultural difference here in the US) I would have been shocked if, after serving 14 people, the place wouldn't have just said 'don't worry about it'. Thanks for telling us, our error, on the house... that would be the most likely outcome over here. I like to think at least.

I would tell them if I noticed. With a large bill though I probably wouldn’t have checked it that carefully to notice. A few years ago a friend and I went for lunch, we were nattering that much we just walked out without paying and went back to work. I realised in the afternoon and had to go in the day after to pay because I went in there fairly regularly.
I’m not sure my husband would tell though. |

But that’s entirely the call of the establishment having been informed of the situation.
But to not inform them in the first place of a genuine error and omission of food that’s been eaten surely becomes a moral if not criminal offence?

We recently celebrated DH 50th birthday on New year's Eve at a local restaurant. There were 19 of us.
Everyone settled their own bills but DH paid for extra drinks. Except that they didn't charge him. We spoke to them twice and told them they'd under charged us. They checked (twice) and said the bill was fine. They are our local restaurant and it's fabulous - not a chain - so I couldn't have gone in again if we hadn't sorted it. |
