I’ve been wondering how other people manage as i’ve not been able to get in top of things. Between work, working for myself, husband working long hours and having a little one, it’s hard enough to get family time and chores just seem bottom of the list

We can't put another one in without taking out half the kitchen. Daughter put her Barbie swim pool on the worktop when she was 6 , it fell off, full of water into the dishwasher...

So you are raising daughters to expect to do the lion's share of housework, by example ? Even if they don't do it now they see a man who believes housework is women's work and a woman who goes along with it. Is that really any better than the women with sons.
Aren't you both perpetuating the same double standard ?
As for men who are clueless with housework, it's a myth. They've just married women who cracked and did it themselves in desperation
No man is incapable of housework anymore than no woman is incapable of changing a wheel or driving a lorry

My husband never lifted a finger at home but once he lived alone he learned because he had to. Our working patterns tend to mean he does more Han me.

A friend of mine was so fed up with her kids and husband doing nothing she doled out washing up and washing rotas, when the plates ran out she served on paper plates, when they moaned they had no clean clothes she just smiled at them. It took about two weeks for them to realise she meant business but it worked ! (She did used to pop around for the odd fortifying glass of wine and pep talk when she felt her resolve crumbling in those 2 weeks mind you ! Lol )

I asked him to hoover at the weekend, he did the rug in the lounge and then had to sit down. I finished the rest. I’m a fool to myself but it’s easier to do it than to keep getting upset over it. I do get a bit annoyed when the women in my team at work do sooo much for their sons, I don’t pass comment but I think “You’re raising more lazy men!”. I thought society was moving past that. OH openly admits that he expects my girls to help me (he’s not their dad) but if I had boys he wouldn’t expect the same.

We both had hectic lives when we were working with the boys the dogs work etc
When we both decided to I'll say completely retired DH at 58 me 56 2 years ago we thought no way nope we wonder on a daily basis how the heck we had time to work etc between our holidays the grandkids
Doing things we've always wanted to do as individuals together the dogs and as we said telling the kids grow up men bog off we are doing
Such and such we are still as busy as ever
I still have my cleaner ( she's amazing ) and have a company who do the bits that I won't let her do ( tops of cupords high windows etc )
And yet still never enough time if we'd let it but still
It's life work. / what is feasible for us to devote to the kids interests /
( will never forget what Mum said before she died Ian was first in your life and he will be again as you let them fly ) and she was so right
We are having a ball and my boys couldn't tell you if they had clean clothes a tidy house but whenwevstill sit down as a family to eat
A comfort meal they remember that or when I had a wobblerdoing one of there adrenal junkie activities with them so so not my thing
But jeeze they have forgotten the dramas about a certain shirtpair of jeans hot being ready to wear now even although they only had said on yesterday for an hour and have no clue if they put it in the laundry
Or not
Ps all my boys from around 10 had jobs. For pocket money for phones etc theygot nowt for free and it's stood them well DS 1 and 3 are fantastic cooks but untidy as sin DS2 can't cook to save himself but can tidy up do house work
And loves to,iron ( he does the ironing as his dad does watching sport on the telly as DH says he says he's mulity tasking ) IT if you asked the other 2 they wouldn't even know where the iron was kept in there house
DS3 has a thing about the Laundry ( that's me down to the colour of pegs matching )
DS1 oh is he worse than me on the get out of my kitchen when I'm cooking it pains me to say he's the fantastic ll round cook baker preserver my mother was

Yep, constantly feel rushed off my feet and it gives me quite a lot of anxiety!

Used to be worse, full time high pressured career, foster for local RSPCA, run a small business from home, restoring an Airstream, trying to support my Dad going through a divorce, make time for the rest of my family & elderly nan who live 45 mins away.

Had a bit of a meltdown late last year and closed my business down and stopped the RSPCA work sadly. Feel much better now, not waking up in a panic multiple times a night/ not sleeping at all, no more constant heart palpitations or panic attacks .

Oh, and we pay someone to clean our house. The place would be an absolute state otherwise as OH and I tend to get home late, cook, sort the fluffs out and collapse into bed!

I can't really afford a cleaner ATM. I often get the heart palpitations and feel on edge all the time.
