We will happily go via somewhere else for a few days to bring the cost down and do some sightseeing but there is so much choice I'm spending hours searching different routes when I'm supposed to be working!
We’ve done 4 weeks and often start with a different destination e.g new york, Miami etc then 2 weeks orlando and a final week in naples - we love it

Whilst never stretching to 4 weeks, we plan like you. Orlando now only forms a part of a very exciting whole… an ever shrinking part, in fact.
Cost led us to look elsewhere for options that got us to Orlando. Curiosity led us to stretch from a few hours layover to a few days and then strangely, we simply found those layovers better than Orlando itself.

After next Easter (the kids last Mummy and Daddy funded hurrah), Orlando will be off the menu entirely. Naples and theKeys won’t, though.

I am now booked for next year but wanted to share price for those flying from Manchester.

Custom BA trip - return flights from MAN to MIA via LHR. 15/08 - 25/08
2 adults, 2 teens

2 nights - we will book separately
5 nights - Residence Inn Seaworld
3 nights - Sapphire Falls

£3186

I know 10 days is not long enough for most but suits us.

Done a few four weeks in Orlando and looking to do same for next year. The only issue is due to wife's job in school, she starts on 1st September, what a bummer.

So plan is to remain very flexible on outbound, as school breaks off I am happy to go and prepared to fly from London all the way to Manchester, flying indirect to miami like we have done a few times and stayed in red roof Inn.

It's a nice drive from miami to Orlando. We have left miami as early as 5am and get to Orlando just after 8 and we have left as late as 8pm and get in before midnight and both journeys have been pleasant with a crew of 7.

No trip report I'm afraid, I'm far too lazy!
We started going to Florida when my eldest was three, she's 19 now! We have been fortunate to go pretty much every year since (obviously not 20-21 sadly!). Generally fly indirect, always have a villa and SUV. We tend to have with a night in Universal and a couple of nights at the beach during that time. We very, very rarely do parks two days running if we do we are up and there for rope drop and on down days we chill by the pool until it starts to cloud over and then go somewhere in the afternoon/evening...
Happy to answer any questions!

Ahh thanks. We want to travel all over Florida in the 6 weeks.

My husband's company agreed yesterday he can work from Florida for 3 of the 6 weeks and our return flights are fully released in 4 days so now operation get to florida without needing a mortgage to pay for it begins in earnest!

Booked flights yesterday with American Airlines and quite happy with the price 2 adults, 2 children direct from LHR to MIA on the 6th Aug, travelling back ORL to LHR via Philly on 28th Aug - £3190. Car hire is a joke though and will probably take the cost of our holiday to a total that I wouldn't have bothered with.

We’ve been doing this since 2010, mostly 4-5 weeks. Only do about 3-4 days at either Universal or Busch Gardens, and include little out of state road trips such as up to Savannah or a week in Smoky Mountains. Have done most of Florida, south and North including Miami, Keys, AMI, St Augustine. Also started one trip in New York/ Washington DC. We usually do about 2-3 weeks ravelling about, then 2 weeks chilling at the coast.
Haven’t done any trip reports as too lazy and inept, but probably should try. Happy to help out with planning.
We basically get flights through cheapest route then work from there, often staying a few days at the stopover airport.
