It's only Disney they aren't doing, Plenty other Attractions.
We done Disney on our first Family Trip, and haven't been back.

You can but it’s not huge parking and you pay. They don’t want people using it as cheaper option than paying to park at EPCOT or the Studios so I think there was a time limit.

For the Boardwalk you can park at The Yacht Club, The Beach Club or The Boardwalk resort…but it’s very possible they won’t let you park without a reservation at one of the resort restaurants or one of The Boardwalk restaurants.

I think if you have a reservation at one of the restaurants on The Boardwalk they tell you to park at The Boardwalk resort rather than the other two, or at least they used to.

We’ve stayed at The Yacht Club twice and The Boardwalk resort and also visited The Boardwalk without staying at any of the resorts several times. We’ve been turned away once or twice when we’ve tried to park at Yacht Club / Boardwalk without a dining reservation when they’ve been super busy. They sometimes have signs up saying that parking is only available for guests of the hotel / those with dining reservations. Never had a problem with being turned away when we have had a restaurant reservation though.

As someone else said, it’s to stop people parking at those resorts and heading to Epcot or Studios without paying to park.

If I didn’t have a reservation at The Boardwalk or one of the resorts and wanted to visit just to look around / use quick service etc I would definitely park at Disney Springs and take a bus. As much as it can be a pain to take Disney buses, getting turned away at the car park entrance isn’t much fun either and it takes the stress out of it in my opinion. You’re then free to stay as long as you want as well as not having to worry about getting turned away and changing plans.

A lot of the resort car parks do get very busy and we have had to drive around for a bit or use overspills (I remember one across the road at Grand Floridian for example) when we’ve had reservations which can be a pain if you’re cutting it fine. And The Polynesian car park is one I think of as always being pretty busy. If you have for example a breakfast reservation they advise that there is a time limit on parking but not sure if this is enforced.

Having not visited Disney since on-site guest parking charges were introduced, I’m not sure whether you can pay to park at another resort just for a look around The Boardwalk or The Polynesian for example, but I would assume not.
