Virgin Reward seat advice

Hi

I know that there have been similar questions, but I wondered if there are any reward seat experts could give me any advice.

We had 4 reward seats booked in Upper for this August which have now been cancelled (just the flight home in Upper). Ideally, we would change this to return from Florida next August instead.

The flights for next August are not out yet; Virgin have offered either a refund of our miles and tax / charges money or to take a voucher in place of the fees / charges and get a companion voucher.

Surely either of these options would put us at the mercy of their being 4 reward seats available on a flight next August (unlikely)?

Is there a better option for us in some way to book a reward return at, say Christmas, but then when the August flights are released (in November or whenever), ask to move those seats over.

Just asking for advice about what our best option is and also when will August flights actually be released?

I know with BA the booking stays open passed the flight date, so you can wait till next years flight are out to move to them, without there being reward seat availability. I’m not sure if Virgin do the same. Hopefully someone will be along to confirm either way.
