Miami advice
We’re going October 2022 and flying to Miami to keep it affordable. DH wants to show the adult kids a bit of Miami - Ocean Drive, the beach and maybe even a boat tour - as they’ve never been.
As we’ll all be awake around 4am are we best going for an airport hotel, fitting in a full half day of sightseeing then driving to Orlando? I’m worried we’ll be too tired for the four hour drive after lunch as we’ll be so jetlagged (going by our last trip). Or should we leave the Miami part till we come back and stay in a hotel the night before? DH hates planning or thinking about holidays till he’s there, so I have no one to talk this over with except you lovely Dibbers, so all advice gratefully received, also hotel suggestions! |

We did a little sightseeing after flying into Miami from Vegas a few years back. We stayed overnight in Miami and then picked up our hire car. We drove along Ocean Drive to take in the sights and took a speedboat trip which included a tour past some of the star’s mansions and was great fun (but we did get soaked viator/Miami-tourism...caAgXrEALw_wcB
I think it depends how much you want to do. The little we did took up the morning so if you want more, it might be worth staying longer or doing it later in your trip. Although you’ll be up early, you might find not much is open until later.

Thank you for the advice and the link. The thought of everything being closed for hours is what’s making me think I’d rather get up early and be in Orlando by lunchtime.

I’m looking to book our flights next week when our return date is available and we’ll be flying in and out of Miami. Planning to overnight and then drive up to Orlando early. We’re having a couple of nights in Miami before flying home so will explore a bit more then 🙂

I think I would do it on my return to the airport, when we did this the excitement of getting to Orlando meant we sprinted around and then set off just after lunch. ON the way back we had the stress of thinking we might not make our flight so think id rather go the day before and spend the night before you fly home in Miami.

I'm doing a modified version of the above. We'll leave Orlando bright and early on the last day, in order to somewhat get back on UK time, and head down to Miami. Then we can spend a few hours in Miami before the flight back in the evening. Might be different depending on when your flight is but I think it'll work out for us
