How to guarantee RotR if staying offsite?

Hello,
My bf is a big Star Wars fan and never been to WDW before- he’s super excited about RotR, is the only way I can guarantee that we will go on it is by buying ILL?
We are only at HS for one day so want to make sure we definitely do it!
Thanks 😊

No you can stand in the standby queue. If you get there early you’ll get on it.

Oh great! Thanks- we’ll just head straight to Galaxies edge then, don’t want to risk it! I thought it was all completely virtual queues still.

Where are you staying on site?

If you are at the Pop, AoA, Riviera or CBC - just get up early and catch the first SkyLiner to HS. That pretty much puts you in the best possible position. Line up at the tapstiles (you'll be a bit ahead of even the first resort buses) and power walk to the left by ABC, part Star Tours, around to Muppets, through the tunnel and straight into the ROTR queue. It really isn't too bad. Its a stampede for sure, but a do-able one.

Alternatively, you could wait until ~15-20 minutes before park closing and jump in line. Ignore the posted wait time...it will be inflated to ward off guests looking to do the same.

Sorry - just caught the offsite in the title. Best bet is to wait to afternoon (lots of folks use HS as a half day park) and get in line whenever the wait dips below 50 minutes. Or wait to just before park close and jump in line.

We waited until the ride went down with technical issues. Wandered around nearby for a while then the minute they opened the queue we joined it. Advertised time was 120 minutes! We waited 15! It was brilliant.

Second time we rode it was mid afternoon with a posted wait of 60 mins. We were in and out in 50 and the full experience is pretty long. To the point where story elements kicked in we waited maybe half an hour

We Were oFf site at Easter (mega busy time apparently) and DH just kept refreshing from 8am and booked an ILL at 8.08am. It actually came.up twice before he booked it but he paused v briefly to consider the time slots & it was gone when he clicked. Our window was 11.40am

We were there at 7.30am one day for 8am opening & it was down just after 8am so queuing would have been a waste of time

We were there on 4th May and I managed to get an ILL by refreshing constantly at 8am when the park opened. Same as above, it took a few attempts to actually lock one in but got a reasonably early time around lunchtime.

When we went back on the last Sunday before we left, the park didn't open till 8.30 and while there were lots of ILL times available, the earliest I could get was 6pm which was too late as we were only going to HS in the morning.

A tip on refreshing - you don't need to come back out to the tip board to refresh for better times. If any time comes up and you go through to the next page where you can select it, you can refresh there and it makes the process a lot quicker an easier to quickly select a time if one comes up that suits.

We are onsite but had breakfast yesterday so didn’t get to the park til 9.30. We waited til 6pm wait was posted as 105 mins but was only actually 45. Best ride in Disney IMO but I have a ILL for guardians today so that could change. Wait times are driving me mad as they are so inaccurate Toy Story Mania said 60 yesterday but we waited 90!
