Just back - and won’t be returning to Disney…

Disney has been letting things slip for many years, saying that I am not sure why many complain about the crowds.

If the parks are so expensive how come they are so busy. Disney must be doing something right to attract so many visitors.

The US is a big country with some fabulous places to visit. Maybe time for people to venture further afield. Another hour or so on a flight gets you to the West coast which has so much to offer!

Unfortunately people from outside the US not spending their money in Disney won't bother them one bit!

Sorry to hear this.
This is my fear but we are going well prepared that it’s going to be busier and much more expensive.
I really hope those who have had an awful time with Genie+ complain some how to Disney as that’s the only way they’ll try and improve it .

I don’t think that’s strictly true at all, they wouldn’t offer incentives to oversees visitors if that was the case.

£2,347 for just 4 tickets including genie plus.

Based on a family of 4 with children aged 10+ going in July this excludes optional parking costs.

It is now very, very expensive and even if you have the money you have to consider whether it’s worth it especially with the queues.

Big discounts for Florida residents and Americans not leaving the US is helping push up visitor numbers this year.

This is where our morals and not wanting to be ripped off come into play. As I said before, Disney won’t miss us but it feels better having no part of it. The magic has well and truly gone.

The thing is there are hundreds of millions of very well off people in the world. This is increasing more and more each year. Not by small numbers either but by the millions and will continue to increase, especially as what we would have considered “poorer” countries expand their wealth.

This is not to say there is not vast swathes of poverty around the world but we have to recognise that wealth is growing rapidly.

It looks like Disney has recognised these trends. It isn’t really that hard to find the information regarding the number of wealthy people in the world. Disney obviously have people analysing this data to the enth degree and have realised probably before many others what is happening to many of the the worlds population and have acted accordingly.

£15,000 for a family of five to Disney in August would seem absolutely ridiculous to many but to hundreds of millions of people it is fine and dandy and it’s those Disney is aiming at.

Disney admitted quite openly in the early 2000s that they were looking for ways to reduce crowds while maximising profits. They said they were deliberately aiming at those with lots of money to spare.

Trouble is, it doesn’t seem to have lowered the crowds.

Agree but they are still paying the same with regards to food and merchandise which seem to be most people's cripe. Saying that neither have been that cheap over the years especially the merchandise.

At the moment they aren’t really. The dining credit offer was pitiful, and very restricted. We had to change our dates and have now lost it - and lost the gift card too.

True, we are still getting 14 day tickets for the price of 7, and free Memory Maker. But no other benefits.

We haven’t been able to afford to go since 2014. On both our previous trips, we got on everything with short waits using Fastpass in 2010 and FP+ in 2014. We ate like kings and got every cent of value out of the DDP.

This time is costing us over £6k up front, before airport transfers and food. I love WDW but not sure when we will be able to go back again.
