Alternative to Anna Maria
Hi everyone, looking for some new beach ideas. We have stayed at Anna Maria island that last three years and really enjoyed it. We loved being able to walk, use the trolley and the slightly older Florida feel to it. We feel we need a change. Could you fellow dibbers recommend somewhere different but not dissimilar? Thanks in advance

Am new to the forum and sorry nothing really to add in response to your question. Have been to Cocoa Beach, Clearwater and Daytona Beach in recent years and I am interested in Anna María. Heard it’s a little bit more relaxed but I would be really interested in hearing your opinion. Particularly as my 19 year old son and 16 year old daughter holiday with my wife and I.
Thanks. |

Anna Maria is simply stunning, however 2-3 days would probably be enough for you right now, my lad, who was 17 last time we visited, gets bored after a couple of days and is itching to get back to the theme parks.
Can always fish or go shopping at Ellenton but like I say he does get bored after too long. Don’t let that put you off though, it’s an amazing place, we love it. |

We have stayed on Anna Marie Island.
This year we are staying on Marco Island. I think it's smaller but close to Naples and the Everglades. |

Here are a few photos of a beach front property called Big Blue which is on Little Gasparilla Island Which is further down the coast
The only problem you might find is that the only access to the island is via a water taxi and there are no shops on the island either. It suits us this time as this part of our holiday is pure chilling.

Naples is gorgeous, Barefoot beach is a highlight for us, Sanabel is also stunning, Re Anne Maria itself our lads 24 and 27 do lots of stuff ranging from Shooting, Cineam, motor racing De Soto speedway, Bowling and Sarasota has shows for all tastes. NFL depending on the time of year in Tampa and Busch close by

Always fancied Sannibel or Captiva but accommodation is expensive so opted for Cape Coral loved our stay there and easy to get to the Islands just a short drive away.
