No Disney?! A winter getaway to Washington DC and Delaware!

Having recently returned from a summer trip to WDW in Florida Rob and I started thinking about our next holiday.

We want to start on our garden in the Spring so wanted to keep costs low and as a result were planning a trip to Orlando with a visit to Delaware to see our friends.

After much struggling with the BA website trying to price a multi city trip we found a price but were torn between a Disney Springs hotel and the Rosen Shingle Creek (one of our favourites).

Whilst walking the dog the night the BA sale ended Rob said “why don’t we go to Washington DC?” We had been once before in 2007 and really liked it so we went from having a sunny break to a chilly December one!

Flights into Dulles were £615 after using a chunk of our Avios and we will hire a car to drive to our friends in Delaware. So hotel and car still to book

As it has been a while recommendations for food etc would be great if anyone has been...

Also, where can we go shopping?

Tonight I have booked The Madison Hilton for our stay in DC. Close to the White House and other attractions

I will keep an eye on the prices though in case I can find a bargain!

Yesterday we booked our car hire - a Tahoe or similar which oddly was about £300 less if we collect it Thursday night rather than Friday morning!

Means we need to park in DC for one night which can be expensive but not £300!

Ah, sounds fun.
Totally recommend Clydes for a meal. We didn't get to Founding Farmers but that gets rave reviews too. The other place we tried was Tune Inn Diner as it had been on one of Guy Fieris shows.
